More Information and Application

If you would like more information then please contact EA.

Scope

“Training the Trainers” is a half-day course for those centre managers, advisers, coaches, instructors and volunteers that have already completed Modules 1 and 2 and now feel sufficiently confident to take over the mantle of ‘Trainer’. We will provide you with the guidance, support and materials to enable you to cover the contents of Module 1 – “An introduction to disability and inclusion” – within your organisation. We will expect you participate in an annual review process to update your skills and demonstrate a level of competence that ensures you meet the ‘quality assurance’ requirements of Equal Adventure and the ‘Institute of Outdoor Learning’.

Experience Requirements

Delegates will have completed Modules 1 and 2 of our Training Programme as well as holding qualifications that demonstrate a high level of competency in their field of expertise. For members of organisations (eg PGL, BCU, Outdoor Pursuit Centres etc) we would normally expect to receive a recommendation for you to complete this course from with the organisation.

Content

“An introduction to disability and inclusion” is designed to be a practical and active experience with plenty of opportunity for delegates to ask questions and express their fears and reservations when dealing with ‘inclusion’. During your training session you will be expected to show that you have the confidence and ability to cope with this crucial aspect of the course. In addition you will also need to demonstrate the following:

  • Effective use of ‘The Map’
  • Practical applications of ‘The Dance’
  • An individual’s ‘Sensory Needs’
  • Using practical exercises to explore the ‘local’ environment
  • Independent movement, dignity and autonomy
  • A sense of humour.
